29th Annual Salute To American Veterans

29th Annual Salute To American Veterans

Colorado residents have a great opportunity to get out and support veterans this month. The 29th Annual Salute to American Veterans Rally is coming back to Cripple Creek, Colo. Aug. 19-21. The weekend will be full of patriotic features including a veteran's parade, Vietnam memorial wall, guest speakers and a POW/MIA remembrance ceremony. If you're a motorcyclist or just want to come for the show, you won't want to miss out.

How Motorcyclists Can Get Involved

You don't have to be a biker to get involved with the rally, but if you are there is plenty to do. The rally weekend includes numerous ways for bikers to show their support of U.S. Troops and veterans. These include:

  • A Veteran's Poker Run. On Friday, Aug. 19, come out to the Combat Vets Motorcycle Association's Poker Run. The run starts at American Legion Post #171 and ends at The Creek Restaurant and Bar. The run will feature a 50/50 split and old school format, and the best hand will take it all.
  • The POW/MIA Recognition Ride. On Saturday, Aug. 20, the Recognition Ride will once again feature Colorado's largest procession of motorcycles. Led by the Kansas Patriot Guard Riders, the bikers will take a route from Woodland Park High School through the Rocky Mountains. The ride will end back at the festival grounds in Cripple Creek.
  • Veteran's Parade. Also on Saturday, the Veteran's Parade will roll down Bennett Avenue in Cripple Creek. The parade will include military and civic organizations, car clubs, local police and fire departments, motorcycle clubs and American ex-POWs.

Something For Everyone

You don't have to have a bike to enjoy the rally weekend. The weekend will also feature street vendors, a Wild West Gun Fight reenactment, VIP veteran guest speakers, aircraft flyovers, veterans' memorial sites and free concerts. There's something for everyone in the family to enjoy, all while supporting and honoring veterans and active duty service members.

Can't Attend? Donate A Car

Events like the Salute To American Veterans are great ways to show your support for veterans. However, if you can't make it to the Cripple Creek area, there is an easy way you can help veterans no matter where you live. Anyone with an unwanted car, boat, RV or motorcycle can donate it to Vehicles For Veterans to benefit programs for veterans. Your car donation is tax deductible and you will receive free towing from nearly anywhere.

Rather than holding onto a car you no longer want, donate it today and help veterans at the same time. All you need to do is call 1-855-811-4838 or fill out an online car donation form to get started.
