Lucky Activities On St. Patrick’s Day 2017

Every year across the world on March 17 you see a lot of green and shamrocks. St. Patrick’s Day, once a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland, has turned into international festivals of celebrating Irish culture with traditional foods, parades, and dancing. Support our troops and participate in St. Patrick’s Day activities on military bases. 

Military Base Activities

Military bases all around the U.S. hosts St. Patrick’s Day events. Check your local military base website to see if they have a St. Patrick’s Day event planned. Here are some events going on around the country.

Little Rock Air Force Base: Hosting the St. Paddy’s Day Fun Run 3-7 p.m. Sign up by March 10 at the community fitness center. The run will start at Hanger 1080 and the course will go through Deer Run Golf Course. After the run at hanger 1080, there will be a live Irish band, Irish food, and drinks from 7-9 p.m.

Marine Corps Camp Pendleton: They are offering two St. Patrick’s Day events. On March 10 you can sign up to participate in the Glow Ball Tournament at the Marine Memorial Golf Course. Shotgun is at 6:30 p.m. following dinner. It is $45 per person, and only open to the first 40 players. 

On March 17 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Leatherneck Lanes, they will be having a St. Patrick’s Day special which is free for all ages. If you get a strike with a colored pin you receive a free game on your next visit. Also, you have the chance to draw a lucky shamrock from the restaurant and you will receive a free beverage, 2 cookies, or a side of fries.

Fort Knox: Shamrock Shuffle 5k starting at the Samuel Adams Brewhouse. Register before March 15 and receive early admission fee prices. Also included with your registration, you will receive a t-shirt. You can register online or in person at the Leisure Travel Services.

Winter Park: Don’t miss the 39th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade March 5 from 1 to 4 p.m. The parade will go between Park Avenue and Central Park. There will be military units and WWII veterans. Join in with the thousands of Winter Park residents during the parade and enjoy Irish music and dancing in Central Park to follow.
