What Is National Military Brats Day?

April 30 is National Military Brats Day. This important day of observation highlights a set of individuals who endured great sacrifice for the U.S. You may not know much about military brats, so here are the answers to some of the common questions you may have.

What Is a Military Brat?

Military brats are children of military personnel. Roughly one of every 25 Americans is a military brat. Due to the nature of their parents’ occupation, military brats typically attend anywhere between 4-12 schools, rarely staying in one home for more than two years. Nowadays, it is a little easier for military brats to connect with old friends due to new technology and social media, but many grew up without being able to keep the short-lived relationships they had due to frequent moving.

Why April 30?

April is already known as the Month of the Military Child. Military Brats Inc. founded Military Brats Day in 2016, and a day in April was appropriate.

Why Observe Military Brats?

It is important for the nation to pay tribute to the overlooked sacrifice that goes into being a family member of military personnel. Never having a true home, fearing for a parent’s life and dealing with limited communication to a parent are just three glimpses into the lives of a military brat. In the same vein, as the sacrifice veterans give to their country, military families also endure a lot for the U.S.

How Can You Observe Military Brats Day?

To observe Military Brats Day, show the same respect for service and sacrifice to military families as you do to the military personnel. If you have ever considered volunteering or giving to veterans, consider the same for their families. For every care package that you generously send overseas, think to send something nice to their families as well. You can help spread awareness and action on social media by using #NationalMilitaryBratsDay.

How Can You Give Back To Veterans And Their Families?

Vehicles For Veterans is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to offering you a way to give back to veterans and their families by using your vehicle donation to benefit important disabled and other veterans charities.

You may have wondered, “Can I donate my car to benefit veterans?” in the past. The answer is yes to both that, and the same question for boats, RVs, motorcycles, ATVs, Jet Skis, and trailers. When you donate to Vehicles For Veterans, we pick up your car for free, give you a 100 percent tax-deductible receipt to use on your 1098-c during tax season, and your donation benefits veterans and their families!

Sometimes it can be hard to donate money or time to veterans. With Vehicle For Veterans, all you need is an unwanted vehicle sitting in your driveway or garage. We take it off your hands even if it isn’t running! To donate today, call 1-855-811-4838 or fill out an online donation form
