At Vehicles For Veterans, our mission is to transform your old, unwanted, or extra vehicles into vital support for veterans’ charities around the country. One of the most common questions we receive is, “What types of vehicles can I donate?”
We’re proud to offer one of the most flexible and comprehensive vehicle acceptance programs in the nation—because every generous donation is an opportunity to make a real difference in veterans’ lives.
Below, you’ll find everything you need to know about what vehicles we accept, what to expect from the process, and how you can get started today.
Our program is built on convenience and flexibility. We work hard to accept as many vehicles as possible, regardless of age, condition, or type. However, each donation is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Factors like location, towability, and vehicle value may affect what we’re able to accept at any given time.
While we strive to include a wide variety of vehicles, certain types may be easier to process depending on where you live. For example, some regions are better suited for accepting boats or specialty vehicles. When in doubt, just ask—our experienced donation team is happy to talk through your specific situation and help you find out if your vehicle can be part of our mission for veterans.
Here are the most common types of vehicles we’re able to accept, often in running or non-running condition. Even if your vehicle isn't on this list, please contact us—we’ll do our absolute best to find a solution for your particular donation.
Any make, model, or year—whether your car is gently used, outdated, or no longer running, we often accept it.
Pickup trucks, work trucks, box trucks—whether they’re working or need repairs, your truck can support veterans.
Sport utility vehicles, crossovers, and full-size 4x4s of all kinds. We accept a wide variety of SUV donations.
From cruisers and touring bikes to sport bikes, we’ll consider almost any motorcycle donation, running or not.
Passenger vans, cargo vans, mini-vans in any condition are often gladly received and turn into essential funding.
Motorhomes, fifth wheels, travel trailers, and pop-up campers—we often accept RVs in a variety of conditions, depending on location.
From small fishing boats and sailboats to larger powerboats and personal watercraft (like Jet Skis), many of our locations can accept watercraft. Acceptance depends on region and accessibility for towing.
Have off-road vehicles taking up space? Many of these vehicles can be accepted, based on location and assessable condition.
Utility trailers, boat trailers, horse trailers, and cargo trailers can often be donated—even if they need some repairs.
We offer solutions for businesses too. Fleet cars, trucks, and even business vans can typically be donated hassle-free.
Restoration projects, classics, or antique vehicles may be considered for donation—even if they haven’t run in years!
Got a vehicle that’s been wrecked, flooded, or simply doesn’t start anymore? Don’t hesitate to reach out. In many cases, we can still accept it, especially if the frame and towability are intact.
We know every vehicle and situation is unique. That’s why when you reach out to donate your car or another vehicle to Vehicles For Veterans, our experienced team will ask a few simple questions.
We may inquire about the make, model, year, condition, and where the vehicle is located. Based on those answers—and our ability to pick up and process the vehicle in your area—we’ll let you know right away if we can accept your donation. Our goal is to maximize our impact for veterans by making the process easy and transparent for you.
Some donations, like boats or RVs, may have additional requirements for pickup or location; in those cases, we’ll work with you to find the best possible option.
Don’t worry! We often accept vehicles that don’t run, are missing parts, or haven’t been registered in some time. Salt damage, body rust, or mechanical issues are rarely a deal breaker.
If you’re unsure, just ask us. If we can pick it up and there’s still value to be unlocked for veterans’ programs, we want your donation.
Our team is here to help. Whether you’re looking at an unusual donation (like a jet ski, agricultural equipment, or a unique classic) or have questions about an older, damaged car, we encourage you to contact us directly. There’s never any obligation, and we’re always happy to help clarify what’s possible.
