About K9s For Warriors
K9s For Warriors has a mission to end veteran suicide. To accomplish this, they provide trained service dogs to veterans who suffer from PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and/or military sexual trauma. Most of the dogs in the K9s For Warriors program come from high-kill shelters. Together with their new veteran friend, the dog and the warrior can form a life-long bond while they both heal.
92 percent of the veterans served by K9s For Warriors report a reduction in their medication. 82 percent report that their suicide ideation is reduced. This service saves dogs too. In fact, K9s For Warriors has rescued over 1,500 dogs to date. This amazing mission saves two lives: the rescue dog and the veteran.
K9s For Warriors mission statement
The K9s For Warriors mission statement says, "Determined to end veteran suicide, K9s For Warriors provides highly-trained Service Dogs to military veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma."
