Veterans Events Happening In Georgia August 6

There are three family fun events coming to Georgia this August, benefiting veterans! 

Georgia Veterans Sprint And Aqua Bike

If you are looking for a fun event to do with a friend, the Georgia Veterans Sprint and Aqua Bike is one you won’t want to miss. It takes place in the beautiful Georgia Memorial State Park in Cordele, Ga., on Aug. 6, at 8 a.m.  This is a great event if you are a beginner.  The course is very flat and fast.  The schedule for this event is as follows:

  • Registration and packet pick-up will be open on Aug. 5 from 2 to 6 p.m. and also on the morning of the event from 6 to 7:30 a.m.
  • Also from 6 to 7:30 a.m., make sure to get your body marked, pick up your champion chip, rack your bike, and set up your transition area.
  • At 7:50 a.m. there will be a triathlon pre-race meeting at the swim start.
  • Race will start at 8 a.m. followed by awards at 11.

Old Soldiers Day Parade And Road Race

Looking for an event to do with the whole family? Well, these events are something that your family will remember forever!

Old Soldiers Day Parade

The Old Soldiers Day Parade will kick off with the city band playing at 9:15 a.m. Then at 10 a.m. there will be a memorial service, and at 10:30 the parade will begin. The parade will end at the American Legion Post 201 where you can come out and enjoy free hotdogs, soft drinks and many more fun festivities going on after the parade.

Annual Old Soldier’s Day Race

This 8k race will begin before the Old Soldiers Day Parade and festivities. This race will start in the cool morning at 7 a.m. with registration at 6 a.m. You will be able to go on a beautiful chip-timed run through Wills Park. Early race fee is $24 per person and $30 the day of. The race day fee will include a souvenir t-shirt. Can’t Make It?
