Fisher House has a new location at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System Hospital.

This new Fisher House will double the previous capacity of the South Texas VA Health Care System. Housing veterans in a home away from home.

“The addition of this second Fisher House demonstrates our commitment to meeting the needs of our Veterans and their families,” said Executive Director, Dr. Julianne Flynn. “A home away from home where families can find comfort during difficult moments in their care journey. We understand the positive impact it can make for patients to have family by their side, and this state-of-the-art facility makes that possible.”

Housing veterans close to their loved ones is so important for the recovery of these veterans. Providing that care at no cost to them furthers the mission of Fisher House, Vehicles For Veterans, and others that want to care for wounded/disabled veterans.

Through vehicle donations and other sources of funding, donors like you have provided a nearly 13,000 sq. ft. facility for veterans to receive their treatment and have free lodging.

"Many families staying at the South Texas VA Fisher Houses will come from great distances for specialized care, staying months at a time, and we need to support their loved ones’ recovery,” said Coker. “Generous partners like Fisher House Inc., Amazon Web Services, and the Adam R. Scripps Foundation have helped make this new home a reality."

This new facility at the Audie Murphy Memorial Veterans’ Hospital campus marks just one of 97 homes throughout the U.S., the U.K., and Germany. The Road to 100 Fisher Houses is almost complete! The final Fisher House will be built in North Chicago, Illinois.

The newest Fisher House in South Texas has 16 wheelchair accessible rooms; kitchens, living rooms, dining rooms, laundry rooms, family rooms, and even a shared patio for community activities.

Doubling the capacity of the South Texas location will help double the amount of wounded/disabled veterans in need of free lodging when finishing up their medical treatment.
